What do you think of the summer so far ? its not long till its gone..I think we could have had less rain as we seem to have had plenty of the wet stuff .The amount of berrys in the hedgerows fill me with dread that we may very well be going to have a hard winter ..And summer seems to come and go real fast.

I feel we have to make the most of all that the Summer months throw at us. I walked along the river yesterday, and was looking at all the wild flowers, wild Astilbe, Willow Herbs, and the array of beautiful small wild flowers, that thrive along the waters edge.
The reeds in the water looked lovely, as well as all the water weeds too, and oxygenating plants.
Although we have had adverse weather conditions, scorching sun, or torrential rain, plants seem to adapt pretty well. Driving home I noticed all the fields and meadows full of beautiful wild flowers, more so that usual.
I do feel that this heat has made a lot of the lesser known flowers thrive, Vetch round here is thriving, so is Bee Orchards too. Which is great news for these rare plants.

I take whatever the weather, as we can't change it, but I do like summer best, as I don't have to wrap up in it normally.
An Ex-Sister-in-law of mine, no matter what the weather, time of year, or anything else, she WOULD moan about it 365 days a year.
This summer hasn't been the best, but I am satisfied with what we have had so far.

Being English, I take the weather as it comes, and make the most of it. I have enjoyed the hot days, even if working most of it, but made sure I enjoyed the weekends, and took me time, to go sowing, gardening, and mowing, or just to sit, and admire the countryside.
Trouble is, Mikkel, we don't get a constant week of weather, it is such a mixed bunch, warm one minute, and cold and dreary the next; that is why we get the moaners.
I think the British, just don a rain coat, and get on with it really, I do. Rain doesn't keep me in at all. I like to feel rain on my face, walk in it, and laugh if I get soaked.

Our council has done something new this year and planted a couple of drifts of wild flowers in the town centre park. They must grow them in the nursery and transplant a slice of turf, because they spring up from nowhere. These poppies appeared this week, along with a lot of other flowers that were being enjoyed by the bees in the afternoon sunshine. I love poppies, and when my 23 year-old daughter gets her first tattoo,I'm definitely getting one of a bumblebee on a poppy

It seems to be getting very Autumny already, with leaf colour changes already, and the days getting cooler.

Here is a pic of a meadow I like to go and see, it is usually full of wild flowers. A lot are still there too. I have walked for hours round here, looking at all the different wild flowers, and haining fin identifying them.

Bumblebee, and wf, I do like to see wild flowers in drifts, and think it is lovely when councils plant wild flowers, and meadows. Lovely pic there Bumblebee. Well, I know it is still officially Summer, but while out blackberrying, I spotted these leaves, that had already started to change colour. I thought they looked lovely. Just think, if it wasn't for the presence of Chlorophyl, all leaves would look like this.
