One time or another, in our lives, we may have prayed. Wished for something, for someone going through an operation, or just to give thanks for the day too, or a simple question to our maker.
Have you ever prayed, and maybe thought it was not answered? Thought..." Prayers don't work?"
I have been thinking on this, and I believe they DO work.
If for instance we pray, to get that job interview, or want to win the lottery, or both. Now the job you may not get, but that does not mean your prayer wasn't heard, nor would it be answered.
But us being humans, we think," Dang, that didn't work"
How do we know it didn't? just because we did not get the result we wanted, dosn't mean it dosn't work, nor was it not heard either..
Think of it like this...You ask to win the lottery..... it is greed
Be grateful for what you have, money is not the answer to life's probs, their are many struggling every day in avid poverty, and you want to win the lottery, maybe you will be shown, by another job, how to help those individuals, and get another job instead too.
How many times have we prayed in the darkness for answers, they are given, but we do not see, for our upset at the time, but sure enough, it is shown.
Something falls in our lap, and as it isn't instant, we forget we asked in the first place.
For me, so many thing have happened, and landed in my lap, and looking back, the prayer was answered, maybe not as I had wanted, but it was answered.
I have had many a reasons to smile, when things have looked up, worked out, and solutions found, simply because I asked, through prayer.
And yes, I have also closed my eyes briefly and said...Thankyou.
Not all will agree, here, and I am speaking for me personally here. IMO it works for me.

There is so much depth to what you've said there, elaine, I don't think anything can be added.
What interest's me is - when people pray who do the pray to? - or should I say to whom do they pray. LOL!! So many people pray all over the world - but they probably pray to many different "gods" - so who is it that they are praying to? I pray - but I pray to my Guides (Guardian Angels, if you like)
I mostly pray when I've lost something. More often than not, as soon as I ask my Guides to find it for me I find it instantly after that. But, like elaine, sometimes when I've lost something - it's for my own good that I don't find it - so I don't.
One quick instance! I wanted to attend a healing workshop given by Brandon Bayes. There were no workshops of her's in Ireland or in England - the nearest I could get was to her top Assistant in Cardiff. I booked the trip over the internet. In order to finalize the booking I needed my passport. But could I find it? - No! I searched and searched for it for four days - and still couldn't find it.
I had no choice but to cancel my Cardiff trip. I said to myself - sure as anything after I cancel this trip, I will find that passport within the hour. I phoned Cardiff to cancel. There was no problem. But, to my complete surprise they told me that Brandon herself would be in Dublin a very short time after that and I could go back and forth from my home.
So I was saved the expense of traveling to Cardif , staying several nights in hotels, while still only getting the training from the lady's top Assistant - only 2nd best, IMO. I had really wanted the lady herself, Brandon.
And so it happened I attended a three-day workshop with Brandon, assisted by the lady who had run the course in Cardiff - all here in Dublin, just a 10 minute trip back and forth from my home each day.
As for the passport, it turned up within the hour, as I had thought it would.
So who is this god that is watching out for us, where is He/She? My guess is He/She is Within. ;D

IMO we all have our own vision of 'God' and whether male or female, and yes, I do pray at least four times a week, even if I feel I am being ionored at times, more often than not, because I want something there & then, but wait sometimes weeks for.
Sometimes, I will just ask: "Please Spirit, .........." and if I get my way, I will Always say: " Spirit.", and as I did on Thursday, when on my way to see, then after seeing my Elaine.

That is an amazing story Whisker, I do believe that we do pray to the divine, something bigger than ourselves, the creator of all.
We pray to them for devotion, support, and general comfort too. I too have prayed when lost things, and had to cancel, only to be lead to something different.
I remember I wanted to go to a show, it was cancelled. I went to bed fuming, and I said in my prayers, " I wanted to go to that, why was it cancelled, it was something I was really looking forward to seeing, but I guess it wern't meant to be"
In annoyance, I picked up a paper, and flipped through it. I noticed a advert for crystal healing workshop...thought..." well, I know nowt, so might as well go, and learn"
That was a long time ago, and that lead me on to greater things. I met a wonderful, lady called Jenny, who I got on so well with, and we just clicked. I went on to have reg crystal healing sessions, and had reiki, and one to one readings done too.
That lead me to my path of working with crystals, learning all about gridding, and the healing properties of each one, and many many hours spent, studying, every one and the healing value of each one.
That lead me also on to a path of learning about, herbs, wild flowers, and fungi, and looking back, I HAD asked for my path to be shown during prayer. I have never looked back in regret, but forward with a smile.

Wonderful story, elaine. It just now springs to my mind, a memory of a quote by E. Tolle - I think it may even be on our site, VG - something to the effect that where our path is is where we are just NOW! - not taking from your journey!
Obviously that was your path, chosen by you! But who knows - where our desires are leading us on unconscious levels? There seems to be more to this life than appears to us, most of the time.

I am undergoing Crystal Healing by a friend and amazed at what I get when there. Wow, Is this lady good?
I have even had my late parents come through to me, along with my Wonderful late wife Yvonne, and together.
Due to another funeral on Tuesday this week, so I have changed my session of healing to Thursday.

I hope your crystal healing went well, and you felt cocooned in the love from the universe too.

Came across this saying by the great mystic, Teresa of Avila
There are more tears shed over answered prayers than over unanswered prayers. --Teresa of Avila
LOL! How true is that!
