This should probably go under the heading of "Paranormal" - but as we don't have that heading, I'll stick it in under "Spiritual".
As far as I know Orbs are little white circles, or disks, that appear on photos - that can't be explained by anything physical. Some people attach spiritual meaning onto them. Other people, who are the pragmatists, say this is nonsense - that it's something to do with the lense of the camera.
Who's right? I don't know. I would like to believe that orbs represent a positive energy, such as angels or something like that. The jury is out, I think.
Here's website with interesting photos and and interesting article by someone who researches into the orbs phenomenon.
I've had orbs in my photos from time to time in the past, but haven't had any for some time now.
This morning I took this photo of Charlie, the cat's, refuge from the rain - and low an behold - an orb! Make what you like of it!
(You can see the "orb" on the trunk of the tree at the left - just above the flowerpot.)
What are your opinions? Is there a paranormal meaning to orbs?

I consider myself a skeptic w/ an open mind. Very interesting article. I think there must be a lot of 'stuff' out there that science hasn't learned about yet. Until we learned that lightning was electricity just imagine what we might have wondered. That's my thoughts, what are yours?

I like to think that orbs connect us with Spirit. Any more opinions?

Whisker, what is 'spirit' exactly?

Penny, I'm afraid you're asking one who is no expert!
I view Spirit as an underlying energy that breathes Life into all things.
These are just my opinions:
Spirit is part of Creation. It vibrates at a higher level than the physical world as we know it. It is everywhere.
When we die, the part of us that leaves our body is Spirit.
Also there are Beings who have no physical bodies such as Angels, Spirit Guides or Guardian Angels who form part of the Spirit world.
Compared with the Physical World, Spirit would mostly be invisible to us ordinary mortals, because it vibrates at a higher rate than the Physical.
There are those who believe there are many other different types of Spirit Beings around, who are taking care not only of us humans, but of all nature, such as animals, birds, trees, grass, sky - even rocks and stones - because everything consists of Energy.
Some people believe orbs are part of the Spirit world.
If I see an orb in a picture of mine, I believe that is a very lucky thing. I believe there are good vibrations around that spot.
The fact tha an orb appeared in my photo is telling me that Charlie, even though he is wild-cat taking refuge in that spot, is being taken care of by a protective energy around him, represented by the orb.
On the other hand he could be drawn unconsciously to that place because he senses a protective energy there. Who knows? I'd like to really know.
Attributes of this Energy, as I understand it, are Intelligence, Pure Love and Creative Power, to name a few.
These ideas are what I would like to believe. I can't speak with any authority on the subject.
I'm as curious as you, penny? ;D

I find your ideas very interesting & well said. Nothing I would disagree w/. I especially like your definition of ENERGY. ha! I think (& hope) we're on the same 'wave length'.

I have come across lots of people on the internet who are very big into orbs, their meaning etc. and take loads of photographs with orbs in them. You'll find lots sites and Youtubes re orbs. Theer are other sites discrediting the whole idea idea of orbs having Spiritual significance. Hard to know who is right or wrong.

The skeptics try to explain orbs as resulting from dust particles caught in flash photography. They are entitled to their opinion! ;D
Here's a typical example of their argument.

What do you think?

I find anything to do with the paranormal fascinating. Id like to believe orbs are spirits. Ive seen a couple of video's with them on and TBH what else could these fast moveing balls of light be. some sceptics say they are dust particles, but if you zoom in on them there is a difference in the two. A spirit orb seems to have a rim (a dark outer edge) and dust doesn't.

Very interesting, penny. Maybe there is some truth in all of the arguments re 2orbs" I.e some are spirit, some dust particles and some balls of ire lightening. We are told that spirit exists in everything, any way!

I don't see it as paranormal at all. There's been quite a few articles that provide an explanation. I remember when i was in middle school, i was deeply fascinated with the paranormal. I was graduating middle school, and my mom took a picture of me at night. There was an orb-like object in the sky. I never quite knew what caused it until i read about it recently
